Surgical Techniques

Dr. Palladino will use one of two surgical techniques based on your facial anatomy and aesthetic wishes. During your consultation, he will determine which technique best suits your specific needs.

Open Rhinoplasty

Performed under IV sedation or general anesthesia, the open technique places an incision along the columella, the strip of tissue separating the nostrils, and small incisions within the nose, if necessary. With total exposure to the nose’s internal structures, Dr. Palladino can precisely manipulate the tissues, artistically reshape the bone or cartilage, and skillfully reposition the nasal skin, closing the incision with sutures. Ideal for more dramatic cases, the open approach leaves a small, nearly invisible scar.

Closed Rhinoplasty

Using IV sedation or general anesthesia, the closed technique depends solely on small internal incisions, allowing Dr. Palladino to see a more restricted view of the nose’s internal structures. Without external incisions, the procedure leaves no visible scarring. However, the limitations make only minor structural corrections possible, as the nasal structures and passage remain in their natural position. Closed rhinoplasty is ideal for less complex cases where only minor structural improvements are needed.

Rhinoplasty Recovery

Bruising, swelling, and discomfort are common temporary signs of the body healing post-surgery. Dr. Palladino recommends having cold compresses, pillows, prepared food and beverages, and other recovery aids to maximize your comfort during the first few days after your nose job in Fort Lauderdale. You will receive thorough postoperative instructions that you will need to follow to ensure a smooth and speedy recovery.

You can resume low-impact activities – such as school, office work, and driving – after one week, once Dr. Palladino removes your nasal splint. You will need to avoid more strenuous activities for longer, especially ones where your nose could be injured. Dr. Palladino will monitor you through postoperative visits and clear you for various activities based on your healing progress.
