Love Your Arms

Many arm lift candidates find it nearly impossible to tone their arms through diet and nutrition alone. Sagging skin and fat deposits can cause feelings of self-consciousness to the extent that patients perpetually hide their arms. Arm lift surgery reduces the upper arm circumference while tightening hanging skin for a more harmonious and attractive arm shape.

What Is an Arm Lift?

Arm lift surgery, also known as brachioplasty, removes excess skin and fat cells and reshapes the arm tissues to enhance the musculature for a more fit and toned look. Arm lifts address patients’ upper arm concerns by surgically improving cosmetic issues that they may have been trying to target unsuccessfully for a while through exercise and dietary changes. The result is often a sense of liberation, as patients can finally comfortably wear certain shirts and dresses with confidence and ease.

  • Smoother, firmer arm contours
  • Enhances upper arm musculature

Patients must physically and emotionally prepare for their operation in the following ways to avoid potential complications:

  • Quit smoking six weeks before and after the procedure
  • Avoid drinking or eating at least eight hours before surgery
  • Wear a loose shirt with a front enclosure to take on and off easily
  • Delegate a friend or family member to drive you home from surgery and assist with food preparation, dressing, and any other household responsibilities for the first 24 hours of recovery

Dr. Palladino begins the procedure by marking the treatment areas on the arms as a guide. Performed under general anesthesia, arm lift surgery traditionally uses incisions on the underside of the arm from the armpit down to the elbow. The number of incisions will vary depending on the amount of excess fat and skin to address.

Dr. Palladino uses artistic precision to trim loose skin and surgically remove excess fat pockets. If desired, liposuction can further clear away additional fat cells. When he closes the incisions with sutures, the arms will reveal a more toned appearance.

Bruising and swelling are common signs of post-surgical healing and will gradually fade with time. Cold compresses and oral pain medication will alleviate any discomfort from your arm lift in Fort Lauderdale. Dr. Palladino will provide you with a compression garment to wear around the clock in order to promote circulation and reduce swelling.

Recovery from arm lift surgery varies from one patient to the next. However, most people can return to work and light activities after one week. Dr. Palladino recommends that patients refrain from strenuous exercise or heavy lifting for at least six weeks.

Dr. Palladino changed my life! I couldn’t be happier with the result of my surgery. He and his staff took great care of me.
